Testavan®

Testavan® is a 2% transdermal testosterone gel and is indicated for the treatment of adult men with testosterone deficiency. [1]

Treatment with Testavan® restores testosterone levels to within the normal range and provides sustained improvements in sexual function, QoL and fatigue while demonstrating a favourable safety and tolerability profiles. [1-4]

Benefits of Testavan®

Testavan® restores testosterone levels and alleviates symptoms of testosterone deficiency. [1-4]

It is important to continue to take your medication as prescribed to allow time for the treatment to provide its benefits. If you have any queries or concerns, please speak to your doctor immediately.

By 3 months

By 3 months, 76 - 86% of men had normalisation of their testosterone levels. [1] [2]

Testavan® improves symptoms of fatigue in as early as 3 months [2]

Testavan® improves overall quality of life, and patients experience both mental and physical improvements as a early as 3 months, with benefits continuing to 9 months. [2]

Safety of Testavan®

Testavan® has a good safety profile and is generally well tolerated [1-4]

The most common reaction experienced when taking Testavan® was a skin reaction where the gel was applied.

Around 4% of men experienced this reaction and reactions tended to be mild or moderate.[1] Men experienced dryness, itching and redness at the site they were applying the gel to.[1]

Other side effects may include: [1]

High blood pressure

Changes in blood measurements including increased red blood cell counts and increased PSA levels, which is a blood marker produced by the prostate

Uncommon side effects adverse events include increased haemoglobin levels in the blood and headaches. [1]

There have been no cases of overdosing with Testavan® in trials. [1]

However, if you think you have applied too much of the gel, please notify your doctor.

Reducing the risk of transferring Testavan® to another person

It is important to be cautious not to accidentally transfer Testavan® to other people, for instance your spouse or children.

Testavan® is formulated to reduce this risk by having a low application volume, having quick drying ability and with its rapid absorption. It also comes with a convenient hands-free applicator to minimise the amount of the medication you get on your hands. [3-4]

However, further precautions should be taken. Wash your hands immediately following application of the product. You should also cover the application area with clothing soon after applying.
